The Art of Building Services

Throughout history, talented multi-disciplined individuals have used their artistic skills, along with their underlying understanding of architecture and engineering, to design and construct buildings. The increased complexity of our modern built environment has led to the specialisation of skills, but the artistic nature of design permeates everything we do.

Building Services engineering is "the art and science of engineering for the purpose of achieving optimal integrated building systems incorporating environmental control and safety provisions for the comfort and wellbeing of the occupants of the built environment" (Institute of Engineers Australia).

Building services engineering is multi-disciplinary by its very nature. A holistic approach must be taken to reconcile the electrical, mechanical, hydraulic (plumbing) and fire safety aspects of an integrated building system. There are many complex interactions between various sub-systems that affect a building's performance, comfort, reliability and energy efficiency.

Alphazeta Group is a provider of design, engineering, management and advisory services in the buildings and infrastructure market. Our core engineering team has been operating in the Perth market for the past ten years. Prior to 2013, the team operated as a department of Cardno Limited (Cardno), a professional infrastructure and environmental services company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX).

In 2013, the department was separated from Cardno’s corporate structure and rebranded as Alphazeta. The core engineering team and its management have remained the same. In 2015, Alphazeta acquired the Building Services arm of Structerre Consulting Engineers, which has bolstered the company’s depth of technical experience and capabilities.

Based in Western Australia, Alphazeta provides a unique blend of local knowledge, innovation and technical excellence.
